He Sent Me Home With His Buddy. Bad Idea, Ex! Chapter 06
Dorian’s expression tightened.
“Whatever happened between Seren and me is none of your business.”
Evander placed a medical report on the table and tapped it twice.
Signs of repeated physical assault. A perforated eardrum. A
frontal head injury causing chronic headaches and dizziness.
Severe anxiety, hypervigilance, and trauma–related withdrawal.”
Evander tapped the report again, harder this time, and lowered his voice.
This isn’t just between the two of you anymore, Dorian.
What you did was a crime.”
Dorian read the report in disbelief, his composure beginning to crack.
When had Seren’s condition become this serious?
Her distance hadn’t been an attempt to punish him. It was
how her mind protected itself after years of trauma.
Dorian crumpled the edge of the report.
‘I didn’t mean for this to happen. Let me see her. I’ll explain
everything myself.”
Evander regarded him coolly and shook his head.
“She’s my fiancée now, and she’s recovering in my home.
What right do you have to see her?”
“You should take care of your own fiancée.”
She has nothing to do with you!” Dorian roared.
His face twisted with rage. Only the table between them kept.
him from grabbing Evander by the throat.
Evander remained unmoved.
Weren’t you the one who pushed her into my arms?”
His quiet tone made every word land harder.
“A single business deal was all it took for you to send her
home with me as my girlfriend. When you left her sick and
alone, I was the one who sent her medicine,”
And when your family stopped paying for her mother’s
treatment, she had no choice but to turn to me,”
“You sent that medicine?”
Dorian’s eyelid twitched as the pieces fell into place.
“That’s why you came to me and claimed your family was
pressuring you to settle down. That’s why you and Seren
suddenly appeared at the Bellwether Hotel.”
Dorian slammed his hand against the table.
“You wanted her from the beginning. You fucking planned this!”
Evander looked up with a faint, victorious smile.
“Of course I did. I gave her the Thorne family heirloom
bracelet from the very beginning. None of you believed it.”
Dorian swung at him, but Evander’s security guards
restrained him before the punch landed.
Evander looked down at him.
“We’re done here. Escort him out.”
The guards dragged Dorian from the estate as he cursed
Evander the entire way.
Dorian swung at him, but Evander’s security guards.
restrained him before the punch landed.
When Dorian’s friends heard what had happened, they began
showing up at his home. Some wanted information, while
others only wanted to enjoy the spectacle.
“She’s just one woman,” someone said. “Why make an enemy
of Evander over her?”
“Exactly. Seren’s the problem. She acted like she was too pure
to let anyone near her when she came to my house, but now
she’s playing both of you.“.
Dorian stopped rubbing his temple and looked up.
“What did you say?”
The man hesitated.
I said Seren acted like she was too pure to let anyone near
her…”
The rest faded into a dull roar.
Everyone kept blaming Seren, but what had she done wrong?
She had never wanted to go with any of them.
Dorian was the one who forced her.
He had listened to people who claimed that a woman from
her background should be grateful for anything she received.
They told him a woman had to be put in her place before she learned to obey.
So Dorian sent Seren away again and again to satisfy his need for control.
He watched her return injured and grow quieter each time,
yet never took it seriously.
“Get out! All of you!”
Dorian seized the man closest to him and pinned his head
against the coffee table.
It was Beckett.
Dorian had heard that the Thornes had been going after
Beckett’s family for the past couple of days.
Evander could only be doing it to avenge Seren.
Evander had already defended her.
Dorian was too late even to make amends.
After everyone left, he sank onto the couch and instinctively
reached for his wrist.
It was bare.
Only then did he remember the black onyx prayer bracelet
Seren had given him. He had thrown it away at the
Bellwether Hotel in a fit of anger.
He called the hotel, but the staff couldn’t find it.
Unease settled over him.
It was only a bracelet. Seren wouldn’t hold it against him, would she?
Unable to sit still, Dorian went upstairs to search for the
other gifts she had given him.
