He Chose the Mafia Princess, So I Chose Her Father Chapter 07
Felix liked exact schedules, quiet rooms, and pancakes cut into four equal pieces.
He disliked scratchy fabric, unannounced visitors, and anyone touching his blocks.
Within two weeks, I knew more about him than Roman had learned about me in a year.
Corrado usually watched from doorways.
He never interrupted a session. He never forced Felix to perform progress for him. At night, he read every
note I left on the desk beside the playroom.
He was still dangerous.
Men arrived at the estate and left pale. Once, I passed
his study and heard him calmly order someone
removed from a Carbone–controlled dock before sunrise.
But with Felix, his voice changed.
Not softer.
More careful.
That difference made him harder to resist.
One afternoon, Felix and I were building a model bridge when heels struck the marble hallway.
Arianna entered the playroom with Roman behind her.
Her smile froze when she saw me.
“What is she doing here?”
Felix covered his ears.
I lowered my voice.
“You’re upsetting him.”
“This is my brother’s home. Don’t tell me how to speak
in it.”
She looked at my simple dress and the employee badge
clipped to my waist.
“I suppose this makes sense. Some women will enter a family through any door left unlocked.”
Roman said nothing.
Again.
He watched Arianna humiliate me with the same.
silence he had used when she handed me the champagne.
I put the blocks away.
“Our session is over. I’ll take Felix to the garden.”
Roman caught me near the front doors ten minutes later.
He dragged me behind a stone column before I could call a guard.
“What game are you playing?”
“Let go.”
“First the award ceremony. Then the hotel. Now her father’s house.”
His fingers closed around my throat.
Not enough to choke me.
Enough to remind me that he could.
“Did you take this job to get close to Arianna?”
“I took it because my mother has cancer.”
“You could have come to me for money.”
“Your money comes with a locked apartment and visiting hours.”
His grip tightened.
“Don’t act better than me. You’ve been with someone else since the party.”
“And you were sleeping with Arianna while promising to marry me.”
“That was different.”
I laughed in his face.
Roman shoved me against the column.
The cold barrel of a gun touched the back of his neck.
He released me instantly.
Corrado stood behind him.
He held the weapon with one hand. His expression was almost bored.
That frightened Roman more than rage would have.
“Take one step away from her,” Corrado said.
Roman obeyed.
“Sir, I thought she was here to cause trouble for
Arianna.”
“So you put your hand around her throat in my home.”
“We have a history.”
Corrado’s gaze moved to the bruises forming on my neck.
“Not anymore.”
Arianna appeared at the end of the hall.
“Dad, what are you doing?”
Corrado lowered the gun but did not put it away.
“Your fiancé attacked my son’s tutor.”
“Tessa provoked him. She has been obsessed with
Roman for months.”
I waited for Corrado to avoid the scandal.
To make me leave through a side door.
He did not.
“Tessa was hired by my office through a blind process,” he said. “She is here because Felix chose her.
From this moment, she is under Carbone protection.”
Every guard in the hall heard him.
So did Roman.
So did Arianna.
Corrado looked at Roman.
“Touch her again, and you lose the hand.”
Roman’s face went white.
For the first time, he looked at me as if I had become someone he could no longer reach.
