He Called Me ‘Jealous’ While She Hanged Off Him in a Bridal Party Chapter 04
Before I could react, Cody dragged me toward the doors.
My father slumped to the floor without my support. I fought to go back, but Cody was too strong.
“Your dad’s faking it. We’re getting married–I’m not messing up my shot at meeting Sterling.”
“Are you blind? My dad just coughed up blood!”
“The ambulance is coming. What’s your problem?”
I shook my head hard. “I’m not leaving my dad. Get off me!”
I scratched and bit, but he only tightened his grip, his eyes turning dark. “Keep this up, and I’ll make sure that ambulance never gets here.”
“Be a good girl. Get through the ceremony, and I’ll make sure he gets the best doctors in the country.”
The words choked me. I dug my nails into my palms,
staring at him. Blood seeped through my fingers, but I felt nothing.
So this was what pure hatred felt like.
When I stopped fighting, he hauled me forward.
Tiffany rushed up. “I’m coming with you. Gotta make sure my boy looks good.”
Cody didn’t hesitate.
On stage, the murmuring drowned me.
“What is he wearing? Is that a nude photo?”
“Oh my god, the Hayes heiress is marrying this guy?”
“A threesome? Matching outfits? Get a video–this is tomorrow’s headline!”
Every shred of my dignity was ripped away.
The officiant hesitated. “Ms. Hayes, do you take this
man to be your husband?”
I bit my lip so hard I couldn’t speak. Cody’s face darkened.
Tiffany snatched the mic. “God, girls are so exhausting! Fine, I’ll do it myself–I do! I’ll marry you, Cody!”
The crowd erupted.
Tiffany turned and headed for my father’s seat. “Since
Daddy’s not here, I’ll take his spot. Someone needs to give this bride away–might as well be me.”
I stared, horrified. Cody pressed down on my shoulder.
“Just do it. Give Tiffany some face, or else your dad…”
“Besides, who else would marry you right now?”
The moment he forced me down–BANG!
The ballroom doors flew open. Nathaniel Sterling stood there in a black suit, backlit by the hallway light.
He looked at Cody and scoffed. “You won’t many her?1 will.”
