Gone After The 28th Wedding Chapter 06

Vincent’s POV

Vincent everything I did was for us!”

Amelia clawed at my trouser leg, tears cutting through her makeup, her face a smeared wreck. That woman had her hooks in you for twelve years! If I hadn’t acted, we’d never have had a chance I did it for you

For me.I reached down and closed my hand around her throat. One arm. Off the floor

Forging medical records was for me? Taking her kidney was for me?”

Her face went red. Her hands beat uselessly at my wrist. I watched her eyes bulge and felt nothing but the whitehot urge to squeeze harder

She was dying. Her kidneys were already failing and you put her on that table anyway. How dare you.”

Youyou hated her too-she gurgled. You wanted her gone-”

shut your mouth.”

The bone in her throat flexed under my fingers. For one moment I genuinely wanted to finish it

Then I threw her

She hit the cabinet hard, slid to the floor, and a shard of the shattered vase opened her forehead. Blood ran into her eye. She clutched her throat and coughed and then, in the silence of that room, she started to laugh

Now you want to play the devoted man?She lifted her head, hair hanging loose, blood tracking down her face, grinning like something out of a nightmare

You want to call me poison, Vincent? Look at yourself.”

Twentyeight accidents. The foundation. The truck. The chandelier. Which one did you stop? Which one didn’t you secretly hope would finally do it?”

she pointed at me, savouring every word

I just finished what you were too cowardly to do yourself. You handed me the knife. She was your target. You’re the one who killed her and you destroyed both of us to do it.”

The last veil came down

Get her out of my sight. My voice had gone somewhere far away. Throw her in the ocean. I want

her gone.”

The bodyguards pulled her up. She fought them all the way to the door, nails snapping against the frame, leaving bloody streaks in the wood. She twisted back to look at me one last time

You think finding her will save you? It won’t. You and that woman will tear each other apart for the rest of your lives. I’ll be waiting in hell to watch.”

Then she was gone.

The hall fell silent

My legs gave out. I hit the floor kneesfirst, broken

glass cutting through my trousers, blood soaking into the carpet. I didn’t feel it

There was nothing in my chest except windFather. Mother.I dragged myself forward on bleeding knees until I was at their feet

a grown man reduced to nothing. Please. Just tell me where she is.”

I gripped my father’s trouser leg. I’ll give her my. kidney. Both of them. My life, if that’s what it takes. I just need to see her.”

My father looked down at me the way you look at something already dead

Some mistakes can be undone,he said. Some

cannot. He stepped out of my grip and turned away. As of today, you are no longer my son. Come back when you’ve earned her forgiveness on your knees. Until then, get out of this house.”

That night the rain came down like a punishment

The bodyguards threw me out like rubbish. I walked the empty streets of Seren City with blood and rain- water running together off my knees, going nowhere, like a ghost that had forgotten where it was hauntingI stopped without meaning to

A bridal shop window. The biggest in the city

My reflection stared backsoaked, wrecked, barely recognisable. Behind the glass, spotlit on a pristine platform, a gown called Eternal Love stood untouched by any of it

Three months ago. The twentyseventh fitting. She had worn that dress

She was so beautiful. She was about to be my wife. And I had looked at her and seen a chain around my ankle

But I’d forgotten something

Twelve years of ambushes, car crashes, and

kidnappings every single time, the only person who ever threw themselves between me and the threat was her. Without hesitation. Without asking for anything in return

t had taken the only pure, unconditional love I’d ever been given and ground it into the dirt. I had chosen a liar and a schemer, and used her to drive the one real thing in my life off the edge of the world

And when Cassandra was dying, I’d tried to take the last thing she had left

I hit myself across the face. Hard

No excuses. No justifications. I was wrong. Catastrophically, irreparably wrong

The rain tasted like salt

I got up

Through the blur of the downpour, the red in my eyes had gone. What replaced it was something quieter and more dangerous the particular calm of a man with nothing left to lose and only one thing left to do

Cassandra.”

Her name scraped out of my throat. Every syllable small wound

I wiped the rain off my face and started walking

Dead or alive. I would find her. I would turn this world inside out until I did..
