Designer Bag, Private Club, “Gold Digger” – Then I Made One Phone Call Chapter 06
Vivian’s move caught everyone off guard–including me.
Griffin froze for a split second. Then he immediately sidestepped, avoiding her completely.
Over the years, plenty of women had tried to make a move on my
brother. He shut it down before it ever went anywhere.
He said he belonged to Elara. Completely.
Griffin moved at the last second. Vivian, too committed to the bit.
went flying face–first onto the pavement.
Dead silence.
Somewhere in the crowd, someone snorted. Vivian scrambled up,
her face twisted with humiliation.
“Stop laughing!”
She turned to my brother, her expression shifting to wounded vulnerability.
“Baby, don’t you remember me?”
“Just yesterday, you told me you’d love me forever…”
Then, as if struck by a realization, her eyes landed on me.
“Is it because of what she said? But this isn’t my fault–you never
told me you had a sister!”
Even though I’d known from the start that my brother didn’t know
Vivian, watching her performance, I actually felt a flicker of doubt.
The surrounding students felt it too. Whispers spread.
Griffin let out a cold laugh. “You’re either blind or delusional. Do you
own a mirror? What part of you could possibly be in my league?”
Griffin’s brutal words left Vivian frozen in place.
She spoke with trembling disbelief. “Griffin, how could you do this to me? I didn’t know she was your sister. If I hurt her, it was never on
purpose.
Derek actually stepped in to defend Vivian. He faced my brother, trying way too hard to look tough.
“The Ashfords might be rich and powerful, but you can’t just
humiliate people. You were with Vivian for two years. Now you’re acting like she’s a stranger?”
My brother clearly hadn’t expected things to go this direction.
His brow furrowed. “You’re saying I dated her for two years. Where’s your proof?”
I looked at Vivian with pure contempt. “If you were really dating my brother, he would’ve mentioned you at least once. You’re just trying to attach yourself to the Ashford name.”
But Vivian pulled out her phone and opened her chat history.
“Griffin, don’t try to deny it. This is clearly from you! You even said I could join your company after graduation. Are you telling me you forgot?”
Her fingers swiped rapidly across the screen. I glanced down. The profile picture was unmistakably my brother. And every photo sent during their online relationship? Also Griffin.
But that only made me rnore confused. Could his account have been hacked?
My brother kept his work and personal life completely separate. His
personal accounts had nothing but family and close friends. There
was no way someone like Vivian would be in there.
How did she have this?
Seeing my brother’s silence, Vivian grew bolder.
She put on a hurt expression and stepped closer to him.
“Baby, I get it–you don’t like public displays. I’m not mad.”
“But please don’t pretend you don’t know me. You’re really scaring me right now.”
Derek also approached my brother, his posture arrogant.
“Vivian and I are like family. Since you’re her boyfriend, that makes
you family. And family helps each other out.”
“Next fiscal year, the Whitmore family has a major project. If we could get Ashford investrnent-”
Derek reached out as if to throw an arm around my brother’s shoulder.
The next second, a cry of pain.
Griffin had Derek’s arm twisted behind his back and slammed him
to the ground, his face contorted in agony.
Griffin snorted. “You couldn’t even spot a catfish standing right in
front of you. No wonder the Whitmores keep losing ground.”
