Designer Bag, Private Club, “Gold Digger” – Then I Made One Phone Call Chapter 03
The next morning, as we were about to leave, Griffin got an urgent call.
He told me, “I have an emergency meeting. I can’t get out of it. Go to
registration first, and call me if anything happens.”
I’d barely arrived at the freshman orientation area when I was blocked.
Vivian stood in front of me, sneering. “You actually have the nerve
to show up? No wonder you can reel in so many sugar daddies. You have zero shame.”
My face hardened. After that call yesterday, Vivian had posted a
vague status mocking me for trying to marry into wealth. I’d
thought breaking up with Derek would give me peace. But here she was again.
“Move.”
Vivian shoved me hard, her face full of impatience.
“I’m the student body president. If there are serious safety concerns
about a student, I have every right to report them to the administration.”
“You’re all over the campus gossip page. A dirty gold digger like you?
I have every right to deny you admission.”
I opened my phone and saw the campus gossip page had exploded.
Someone had posted an exposé claiming there was a fake heiress in
the freshman class. She dressed like she came from money, but she
was really just a washed–up gold digger with one goal–landing a
rich guy and locking him down.
[I’ve seen her at the club. She acts all innocent, but she goes straight
for rich guys. She’d even take a 300–pound man if he paid for extra time. Pretty sure she was number six.]
(Looks like the club isn’t enough for her anymore. She wants to
clean up her image and become a rich man’s wife.]
[I heard she was in and out of hospitals all through high school. You
know what that means for someone in her line of work.]
My photo was attached at the bottom.
Vivian held up her phone and announced loudly.
[As student body president, I can responsibly confirm–all of this is true!]
[Gemma spent all of high school chasing my friend, trying to ride his family’s connections to the top.]
[And the second I called her out, she went straight to the next sugar daddy–didn’t even take thirty minutes! Who here feels safe going to school with someone like this?]
The crowd erupted in insults.
“This is a university, not a brothel. Get off campus!”
“Absolutely disgusting. I’rn telling my boyfriend to stay far away from her.”
Someone called security. They grabbed my arms and tried to drag me out.
I yanked my arm back. “Get off me! This is defamation!”
In the chaos, my suitcase was knocked over and my things scattered across the ground.
Vivian picked up a necklace with two fingers, like she was afraid of catching something.
“This is the latest limited edition release. Regular people can’t even get on the waitlist. And you expect us to believe you’re not a gold digger?”
“And these shoes–this dress–all haute couture. How could an ordinary college student afford any of this? You bought it all by sleeping with old men, didn’t you?”
Vivian’s face was radiant with triumph. Then suddenly, a new post appeared on the campus gossip page.
It was from Derek, verified account. He’d paid to have it pinned for a month.
[I’m the person involved. I broke up with Gemma Sterling a long
time ago. We have nothing to do with each other anymore. Please don’t be fooled.]
His words nailed me to the wall.
I stood frozen, my heart sinking into my stomach.
