My Blood Fed Her First Love Chapter 04
Juliana’s PerspectiveÂ
The man who said, “I’ll go anywhere as long as I’m with you,” had actually left me, damn it.Â
“Evans!” She called her assistant, roaring, “Use all connections! Block the airports and train stations! I don’t care how–find Calvin at all costs! If you can’t find him, you’re all fired!”Â
The doorbell rang, and she grasped at this hope like a drowning person clutching a lifebuoy.Â
Calvin!”Â
She almost ran to the door, her ankle hitting the coffee table. She ignored the sting.Â
He must have regretted it. He must miss me and came back.Â
know–he can’t leave me.Â
She yanked the door open, and the smile on her face froze instantly.Â
Juliana, what’s wrong with you?Â
It was Sebastian.Â
He saw the torn documents on the floor, and his eyes immediately lit up.Â
The next moment, a look of concern appeared on his face. “Darling, he’s gone? What about next week’s‘ raw material‘? Did that idiot deliberately ruin himself to hurt me?”Â
“Shut up!” she hissed, her voice hoarse as if scraped by sandpaper.Â
Sebastian took a step back, a flash of shock on his face. “You… you’re yelling at me? Because of that blood bag?”Â
Blood bag.Â
For five years, Sebastian and she had always referred to Calvin that way.Â
But now, those words stabbed her heart like knives.Â
“Get out.” She pushed him away.Â
Sebastian was startled but quickly put on a wounded expression. “Juliana, what’s wrong? Have you fallen for that blood bag? Remember–it was you who used him as my blood bank! It was you!”Â
Yes, it was me.Â
always thought Calvin was a lucky man, marrying me, living a life most people couldn’t achieve in several lifetimes. He just had to donate blood regularly. It was fair.Â
But why did Sebastian’s words now feel like they were stabbing my heart?Â
I grabbed the car keys and rushed into the rainy night.Â
Sebastian screamed something behind me, but I didn‘t catch a word.Â
The library of our first date. The foot of the mountain he said he wanted to hike.Â
Everywhere was empty.Â
On the third night, I found myself walking into the old café we used to frequent when we were dating.Â
the owner saw me and greeted me warmly. “Dr. Thorne! Long time no see! Where’s your husband?”Â
I froze.Â
“He was all smiles last time he came to buy coffee beans, saying marrying you was the happiest thing in his life,” the owner said while wiping a glass. “You two must be very happy. Doctor, you are so lucky to have married such a good man.”Â
The happiest thing in his life.Â
I stood in the shop, filled with bitter irony.Â
To outsiders, we were the “perfect couple.” In reality, it was my one–sided bloodsucking and deception.Â
A huge emptiness engulfed me. For the first time, I realized that Calvin the man whose eyes were full of me might really be gone forever.Â
When I returned to the villa, it was already dawn.Â
In a hidden compartment in the study, I found an encrypted diary Calvin had left behind (I had onlyÂ
recently found the password). There were no sweet nothings, only cold records:Â
“July 15th. After injection of new nutrient formula, abnormal fever accompanied by bone pain. Juliana says it’s a normal reaction.”Â
*August 3rd. Found research documents on ‘targeted bone marrow stimulation‘ in the private safe, signed J.Â
$. (Juliana Thorne). Objective: Optimize rare blood type donors.”Â
September 20th. Backed up all medical records and drug samples. Must contact Professor Williams.”Â
“Last entry: If I don’t wake up, please investigate my wife, Dr. Juliana Thorne. I loved her, but I want to live thore.”Â
Every line was like a cold scalpel, dissecting my self-Â righteous lies,Â
He had already noticed, secretly recording and preparing. He loved in pain but also planned his escape with clarity. And I? I was in a private lab in Switzerland, signing documents, devising strategies to turn his bone marrow into a renewable “biological resource.”Â
I smashed the crystal paperweight on the table. Shards cut my palm, and blood instantly welled up. I stared at the blood and suddenly started laughing.Â
Laughed until tears streamed down.Â
I’m not even fucking human.Â
The phone rang.Â
It was my assistant, Evans.Â
My hands were shaking as I answered.Â
“We’ve found a lead on your husband’s whereabouts.”Â
