The Billionaire Family Who Kept Me For Luck And Learned To Fear Me Chapter 02

Adrian shoved Vivian to the floor.

He drove the paring knife straight into my arm, and blood

instantly soaked my sleeve.

Sharp pain shot from the wound through my entire body

Cold sweat broke out across my skin, and I doubled over.

“Aurelia!”

Nora rushed to press a handkerchief against the wound, her

face tight with distress.

Good. Whatever this brings in belongs to me.”

Adrian smiled at the blood coating the blade, completely

indifferent to what he had just done.

Vivian glared up at him.

Adrian Whitmore! I swear I’ll tell Dad!”

Adrian gave a mocking laugh.

If Dad cared about you, he wouldn’t have shipped you

overseas. I’m the only heir he wants.”

You can fight me all you want, Vivian. You’ll never win.”

The front doors flew open. Conrad’s chief of staff, Elliot Grant,

rushed inside with his glasses crooked and strands of hair

damp with sweat.

He braced his hands on his knees, struggling to catch his breath.

The moment he saw the blood running down my arm, all the

color drained from his face.

“Who did this?”

Adrian arched an eyebrow.

“Who tipped you off, Mr. Grant?”

Vivian seized Nora’s arm and pulled the phone from Nora’s pocket.

Who else?”

Nora kept her head down and didn’t resist.

Elliot ignored them and came straight to me.

‘Aurelia’s seriously injured. I’m taking her to the hospital.”

One of Vivian’s guards blocked him before he could reach me.

Elliot shoved the man aside,

Get out of my way!”

Vivian faced him.

You aren’t taking Aurelia anywhere today, Mr. Grant. This

isn’t just my decision. No one here will let you,”

One look at Elliot’s face told me he knew exactly what they wanted.

Conrad had left Elliot behind with explicit orders to keep me

safe. Saving me was also the only way to keep the Whitmores from destroying themselves.

If I died, the entire family would go down with me.

Elliot drew a slow breath and visibly fought to stay calm.

“I’m calling Mr. Whitmore. You can explain this to him yourselves.”

The moment he pulled out his phone, Adrian snatched it away.

Did you really think I’d let you warn him?”

Adrian turned to Victor and Helen.

“Whose side are you on?”

Victor answered for them.

“We’re on the same side, as long as we get our cut.”

Adrian glanced at my bleeding arm.

Once I see what this gets me, you’ll have your turn.

Elliot’s jaw tightened.

“Are you trying to destroy the Whitmore family? Have you

forgotten what Mr. Whitmore said the day he brought Aurelia home?”

“Stop now, and this might still be fixable.”

As Conrad’s most trusted chief of staff, Elliot represented him

and carried his authority whenever the patriarch was away.

Helen hesitated.

“Can we really trust Vivian? What if it was just a coincidence?”

The foyer fell silent.

Then Adrian’s phone rang.

The news on the other end made his grin widen with every second.

When the call ended, he turned to me.

Aurelia, you really are a gold mine.”

He opened the file his assistant had sent.

The Harringtons swore they’d never work with the

Whitmores, but the deal just went through.”

Vivian was telling the truth.”

Victor smiled.

Both of you have gotten your windfalls. Now it’s our turn.”

All four of them turned on Elliot.

Elliot bolted for the door, but the guards tackled him and pinned him to the floor.

“Lock him up. Don’t let him contact Mr. Whitmore, Adrian ordered.

Victor smiled without warmth.

“Don’t try to intimidate us with my father’s name, Mr. Grant.

The Whitmore family still needs an heir, doesn’t it?”

Elliot strained against the guards.

“You’ll regret this!”

Vivian started to speak, but a bolt of pain split her skull and

sent her crashing onto her back.

“My head… It hurts…”

Adrian frowned.

“What are you faking now, Vivian?”

I couldn’t stop trembling with excitement.

The trap I had spent three years building had finally sprung.
