Lost the Bet on Our Anniversary, Ended the Relationship She Scriptted Chapter 06
As the years passed, the arguments became more frequent.Â
At first, Evan still tried to communicate.Â
But the more Sienna whispered in his ear, the moreÂ
resentment he let build.Â
In Sienna’s version of events, Aria was manipulative,Â
dishonest, and always looking for attention from other men.Â
Yet the Aria Evan knew was nothing like that.Â
She carried small bags of pet food in her purse in case theyÂ
passed a stray cat or dog.Â
She saved empty bottles for an older couple in theÂ
neighborhood who collected recyclables.Â
She remembered every detail of what Evan liked and disliked.Â
She noticed things about him that almost no one else did.Â
That was what made his own insecurity so ugly.Â
Aria could remember everything about him except his face.Â
He had known about her condition from the beginning,Â
He had promised to accept it.Â
Somewhere along the way, he had started treating somethingÂ
she couldn’t control as proof that she didn’t love him enough.Â
He had never truly wanted to break up with her.Â
He had wanted reassurance.Â
He wanted her to tell him that no matter whose face sheÂ
recognized, he was still the person she loved most.Â
He told himself that was all it was.Â
He told himself he had never meant to hurt her.Â
But intent no longer mattered.Â
He had broken the heart of the woman he claimed to love,Â
and his actions had helped set off the chain of events that ended with her mother’s death.Â
Worse, even after learning what had happened, he had stood in front of Aria and said things he could never take back.Â
For the first time, he had no excuse left.Â
He sent Aria a message.Â
It didn’t go through.Â
He called.Â
No answer.Â
A cold realization settled over him,Â
He might have lost her for good.Â
Then his phone buzzed.Â
It was a post notification from Aria’s account.Â
She had uploaded the police report and her attorney’s notice.Â
Only then did Evan understand that she wasn’t waiting for another apology.Â
She was done.Â
When Sienna saw Aria’s post, she panicked and rushed to Evan.Â
“What are we going to do? She’s not seriously suing us, is she?”Â
Evan stared at her and said nothing.Â
“I swear I didn’t know her face blindness was actually thatÂ
severe. I thought she was exaggerating.”Â
Tears spilled down Sienna’s cheeks.Â
For once, Evan felt no urge to comfort her.Â
He felt disgusted.Â
“You think you’re the victim now?”Â
His voice hardened.Â
“You were the one who wanted to turn the internet against her until she apologized. Did you seriously never think there might be consequences?”Â
“I told you over and over that Aria was a good person. You kept judging her because you wanted to believe the worst. You helped make her a target, and her family got dragged into it too.”Â
He shook his head.Â
“And now you’re scared?‘Â
Sienna stared at him.Â
It was the first time he had ever spoken to her that way.Â
“How can you talk to me like this?”Â
Her voice cracked.Â
Aren’t I your best friend?”Â
There it was again.Â
But this time, it didn’t work.Â
Evan finally saw Sienna for who she really was.Â
He opened his mouth to answer.Â
Before he could, Sienna suddenly kissed him.Â
