The Wedding He Turned Into a Funeral Chapter 01
I spent a full year planning every detail of wedding.
And on the day of, the planner Melanie Crawford swapped out every single blush–and–ivory element I
loved for black and white.
The ballroom looked like a funeral parlor.
I stormed over to confront her–and she ducked behind my fiancé. thou
“I’m so sorry,” she said, all wide eyes. “I just
blush and ivory were so tacky. I wanted to make it more elevated for you.”
“Vincent and I go way back–he’s always been into that whole dark vibe. I honestly thought I was doing
you both a solid.”
I was so furious I almost laughed. I lunged to grab her, but Vincent shoved me back.
I hit the floor. My gown ripped.
“Jade, don’t make a federal case out of this,”
Vincent Harrington said, shielding Melanie behind him. They both stared down at me.
“Black looks way better. Your taste doesn’t even come close to hers. And you’ve been mooching off me
for years–so what makes you think you get to complain?”
My blood went cold.
I didn’t waste another word. I texted my dad: [Dad, don’t come to the wedding. I’m calling it off. Pull all our anonymous investment from Harrington Corp. I want Vincent bankrupt by tonight.]
Right then Melanie rushed at me and snatched my phone.
“Vincent, she’s mad about what I did–she’s going
to post something and get me canceled!” eyes welled up. She looked at him, trembling.
I wasn’t sure if my last message had sent. I scrambled to grab it back. “That’s not true. Give me my phone!”
She saw how desperate I was and smirked. “See? She’s panicking–I’m right. What if people come after me?” look.
She slid behind him again, shooting me a smug
Vincent studied me. “She did cancel someone before. But don’t worry I won’t let anyone hurt you.”
I started shaking. My fingers twitched.
He knew the truth. He knew–and still played along.
Back then I’d been set up. He’d taken a photo of me entering a hotel and Photoshopped some guy next to me, then spread rumors I was cheating.
The comments poured in.
[You had it coming–out that late, what did you expect?]
[Disgusting. Never would’ve guessed she was that easy.]
I hid in my apartment, terrified to leave, too scared to open social media.
Vincent was my rock. He held me and swore he believed me.
“Jade, I’m here. You’re safe.”
I thought he was the one person who’d never turn on me.
Now he was shielding Melanie and standing against me.
Then he finished me off, “The whole cancel thing?
That was me. You were in Melanie’s way.”
My chest caved in. I couldn’t breathe,
I ripped off my veil and slapped him across the face with it.
“I’m done.”
30.000,
