My Husband Sent His Twin to My Bed, and I Made Him King Chapter 06
Winston Manor was under total lockdown tonight, sealed off by two fully armed private mafia security teams.
Dozens of core capos and bosses from the Vincent and Sterling
families stood solemnly on either side of the long table.
My father and the old don of the Sterling family were in the middle of a sacred, old–world ritual–a blood oath sealing their
alliance.
Just as the dagger was about to cut across both dons‘ palms, so
their blood could be spilled over the rose ashes that symbolized the highest vow, a deafening crash exploded from the hall
entrance.
Bang!
A sharp gunshot shattered the glass.
Every elite guard had a weapon drawn in less than half a second,
and dozens of black gun barrels swung toward the doorway in perfect unison.
A monster staggered in, looking like it had crawled straight out of hell, clutching a gun in a death grip.
“Don’t sign it! It’s a setup!” Arthur pointed the gun at Asher. ”
Father! You’ve all been fooled by this bitch! That bastard isn’t me—he’s Asher! The worthless brother you exiled!”
The elders frowned, looking at him like he was insane.
“Do you
still not get it?!” Arthur shouted when no one reacted. Then he swung the gun toward my stomach. “That bitch isn’t
carrying the Sterling family’s first grandson! It’s a bastard!
Some nameless piece of trash knocked her up! Get a doctor in
here! Right now! Draw blood and run a DNA test on the spot!
Expose this fake!”
Facing the dark muzzle, I gently patted Asher on the back and stepped out from behind him.
“Asher, I thought the cold water in the dungeon might cool off
the brain your mania has already eaten through, but apparently you’re too far gone to save.” I let out a soft sigh.
I snapped my fingers. A few seconds later, a medical file was
tossed onto the center of the table.
“This is the DNA comparison report from the amniocentesis.” I
looked at Arthur’s pupils widening in shock. “Ninety–nine
percent match. No matter how much nonsense you scream, medical proof is medical proof. This child carries pure Sterling
blood.”
Arthur stared at the report, his brain seeming to short–circuit on the spot.
He seemed to have forgotten one very basic fact: identical twins share virtually the exact same DNA.
In this world, no standard paternity test could tell him and Asher apart.
It was the natural mask God had left Asher at birth—and the noose now tightening completely around Arthur’s throat.
“No… that’s impossible…” Arthur’s gun hand began to shake violently.
“And that’s not all.” I pulled out the last file from my bag and flicked several copies neatly in front of the old Sterling don. “A blood test? You don’t even have the right to speak to us about bloodlines or loyalty.”
My voice rang through the cavernous hall as I leveled the accusation. “Dons. Capos. Take a look at these Swiss offshore account statements and the shipping logs from Atlantic Ocean Freight. Over the past six months, this mad dog secretly siphoned off thirty million dollars in family liquid assets to keep his shameless little mistress alive and bankroll her luxury life overseas. He even sold the core shipping route for our arms operation to the Lucchese family at a discount!”
The temperature in the room seemed to drop to freezing.
In the mafia underworld, you could be greedy. You could be cruel. You could even be ruled by lust. But there was one line that could never be crossed–betrayal.
Selling out the family was the one unforgivable sin!
The old Sterling don’s face darkened so much it looked almost
black. When he looked at Arthur now, he was looking at a dead man.
“Betray the family…” the old don said through clenched teeth. ” Rip out this traitor’s tongue. Make him pay for what he’s done.”
“No! I didn’t! This is a setup!” Arthur suddenly raised the gun at me. “Audrey, go to hell-!”
Asher moved like a black panther exploding into motion,
crossing the distance in a single breath.
His left hand clamped down on Arthur’s gun wrist like a steel
vise and violently twisted it outward.
Crack!
Arthur’s arm snapped on the spot. The moment the gun hit the floor, Asher drove his knee hard into Arthur’s jaw.
Arthur didn’t even get the chance to scream. Blood and shattered teeth burst from his mouth, and his whole body collapsed into the spreading pool beneath him like a sack of ruined flesh.
With one foot planted on Arthur’s broken arm, Asher pulled a spotless white handkerchief from his pocket and calmly wiped the blood from the back of his hand.
Two cleaners immediately stepped forward, lifted Arthur from both sides, and dragged him out.
The doors shut again, as if the hellish scene that had just unfolded had been nothing more than a minor interruption.
I slipped my arm through Asher’s, lifted a glass of champagne,
and offered the two dons at the head of the table an elegant
smile as they raised their silver cups once more.
“Now then, let’s finish sealing this blood oath–to our
unbreakable empire.”
