My “Escort” Boss Chapter 11

My “Escort” Boss Chapter 11

Sentenced to Life in His Arms

When I opened my eyes again, I saw the hospital’s white ceiling–and Darren’s face, stubbled but still impossibly handsome.

“You’re awake?” His voice was hoarse, his hand trembling as he held mine.

Alan stood nearby with an I–ship–this expression, still finding time to tease me. “Nora, that stomach issue of yours really went all out. You were even giving final words.”

I froze for a few seconds as my memories came back.

Not pregnant? Just a stomach condition?

I looked at Darren. The anger and suspicion from before were gone. In their place was affection so deep

it nearly overflowed, mixed with regret.

“Alan told me everything,” Darren said softly, kissing the back of my hand. “It was you at Moonriver that night. It was always you.”

In that moment, all my grievances dissolved into tears. I no longer had to bear the stigma of an unwed pregnancy, nor did I have to push him away to make room for someone else.

“Then what about Mary…?”

“Shh.” Darren’s eyes instantly turned cold. “That imposter–and the one backing her–none of them will get away. Anyone who dares to touch my woman will pay the price.”

Three days later, at an upscale bar in Los Angeles.

With the attempted murder exposed, Mary was preparing to flee. Just as she was about to head to the airport, her phone vibrated. A message from Darren.

A photo of a Hermès Birkin bag, accompanied by a line of text:

“Darling, to celebrate our child, I bought you a gift. I‘ m waiting at the old place.”

I sat in a surveillance van parked in a corner near the bar, watching Mary’s face on the monitor twist with greed. I let out a cold laugh.

As expected, she came.

Dressed to the nines, Mary pushed open the bar door and immediately spotted Darren sitting in a booth.

“Darren, baby!” she cried excitedly, fluttering over like a butterfly. “I knew you’d never treat me badly!”

Darren looked at her expressionlessly. His long fingers tapped an orange gift box on the table.

“Open it.”

Her eyes lit up as she lifted the lid–then her smile froze.

Inside wasn’t a luxury bag worth millions, but a cold black handgun, its muzzle pointed straight at her.

“Darren, you-” Mary collapsed onto the sofa in terror.

“You attempted to murder Nora,” Darren said, his voice as cold as a judge from hell. “I’m placing you under arrest.”

Trembling, Mary suddenly pulled out a gun and aimed it at Darren. “Damn it! You tricked me? Then I‘ Il make sure you die too!”

But at that moment, Bob and the SWAT team, already lying in wait, swarmed in and pinned her to the ground.

In her despair, Mary snapped. She broke free and lunged at me like a madwoman.

“Nora! You ruined me! Why didn’t you just die?! Why do you get everything better than me?!”

Looking at what had once been my best friend, now unrecognizable, I felt nothing at all.

“Mary, the one who destroyed you was never me. It was yourself,” I said coldly, looking down at her.” When I was training through the night, you were thinking about taking shortcuts. When I was risking my life, you were thinking about stealing someone else’s identity. It was your own greed that sent you to prison.”

Mary wailed as Sarah dragged her into the patrol car. Everything finally came to an end.

The bar was left with just Darren and me.

“Officer Nora,” Darren walked up to me, his gaze burning. “I’ve already torn up your resignation letter.

Now, it’s time we talk about that ‘confession you never finished.“”

I threw myself into Nora’s arms, overwhelmed with relief after surviving disaster.

“Nora, it was me—the woman who slept with you that night was me. I love you…”

Darren pulled me tightly into his embrace and kissed me deeply.

“My love, I know. I’ve known for a long time…”

(The End)
