Hundred Million Bounty on the Billionaire’s Wife Chapter 06

Hundred Million Bounty on the Billionaire’s Wife Chapter 06

Grace’s POV

Arthur’s face goes red with anger. His hands ball into fists, his voice shaking. “Grace! Do you have any idea what you just did? Those bastards started it–my security could’ve handled them! Why were you so reckless?”

I wipe the blood off my knife. “Arthur, you think that would’ve solved anything?”

“Of course it would! That’s what the hotel rules are for–protecting people like you.”

“Today it’s them. Tomorrow it’s someone else. Next week there’ll be more.”

Around us, everyone’s eyes are lit up with greed.

I stand slowly and meet Arthur’s eyes. “You can’t stop all of them, Arthur. Neither can I. But now I have a way out.”

Some of the anger leaves Arthur’s face. “What way? Grace, don’t tell me you’re planning to take on the whole world. A hundred million dollar bounty means

every assassin in the world’s coming for you.”

“Remember Olivia Morgan?”

“Olivia?” His eyes widen. “Of course I remember. The Morgan family matriarch, one of the Twelve on the

High Table. But didn’t she die three years ago?”

“Yeah, she’s dead. But five years ago, I did her a big favor. Saved her life. She gave me a piece of paper with the Morgan family seal on it.’

“A blood marker?”

“She said it could help me. Any time, any situation.”

Something sparks in Arthur’s eyes. “Jesus… if that’s really a blood marker, that’s the Morgan family backing you.”

“With your backing and theirs, I can challenge Damien to a duel.”

Arthur thinks for a moment. “You sure you

remember where you put it? Grace, if you can’t find that paper…”

“I remember everything.”

Arthur smiles briefly, but it fades fast. He checks his watch. “Less than four hours, Grace. What do you need?”

I look at him, feel the weight of what’s coming.” Weapons. Lots of weapons.”

Arthur takes me down to the armory through a hidden elevator. Walls lined with every weapon imaginable.

“What do you want? Sniper rifle? Machine gun?”

“Give me the lightest loadout. Two pistols, tactical. knife, and body armor.”

You sure you don’t need more firepower? There’s dozens of killers waiting outside.”

“Heavy weapons will just slow me down. I need speed.

I check the guns. Arthur gathers ammo and gear. I put on the body armor, pull a black jacket over it.

“Anything else?”

“Just pray for me, Arthur.”

He nods. “I will.”

Back in the main hall, the change is obvious. Way more “guests” than before. They pretend to drink and chat, but everyone’s watching me.

Arthur checks his watch again. “Fifteen minutes.”

“Enough.”

The hotel guests aren’t even hiding it anymore. Some move toward the exits, probably prepping for the hunt. Others stare hard at me, already calculating.

their share of that hundred million.

“If things go wrong…” Arthur starts.

“Then pretend I never existed.”

Arthur’s eyes go red, but I stay calm. No room for weakness now. No time for doubt.

Arthur leads me toward the back door. The hallway’s dead silent except for our footsteps. He pulls out an elegant key, hands it to me. The metal feels warm and solid in my palm.

We lock eyes. This man’s more than a friend. He’s family.

“If you make it…”

“I’ll come back to see you.”

Arthur checks his watch one last time. The hands point to midnight. The hotel bells begin to ring, heavy and final.

“Time’s up.” He stares at me, then opens the heavy door.

Cold night air rushes in.

“Go. Starting now, the excommunicado takes effect. All Continental hotels are now closed to Swans.”

I take a deep breath, step toward the door. Arthur stands there like a father seeing off his daughter. I can see the pain in his eyes.

“Arthur, thank you for protecting me all these years.”

“Go, kid. Show them what Swans really is.”

I step through the back door. Night swallows me whole. Behind me, I hear the heavy door slam shut.

In the distance, motorcycle engines roar to life. Figures appear at the end of the street. The hunt’s about to begin.
