He Gave Me $800 and Expected Me to Stay?! Yeah, No… Watch Me Turn the Tables Chapter 07

He Gave Me $800 and Expected Me to Stay?! Yeah, No… Watch Me Turn the Tables Chapter 07

The next evening.

As soon as the night market opened, a crowd packed in around my stall.

Last night’s livestream had blown up.

The topic “CEO Slashes His Paid Companion’s Allowance: $800,000

Becomes $800 shot to the top of the trending list.

Everyone had come to gawk “the internet’s most underpaid kept woman.”

“Boss, give me an $800 deluxe breakfast wrap!”

A guy in a gold chain yelled it as a joke.

I cracked an egg with a snap.

“Buddy, $800 would buy half the sausage on this cart. Pace yourself.”

The crowd burst out laughing.

I was slammed.

A familiar Rolls–Royce pulled up at the corner again.

This time, Vincent Sterling wasn’t in a suit.

He’d changed into a casual white shirt and jeans.

He was even carrying a huge insulated pot.

He walked up to my stall and, without a word, started packing takeout boxes for me.

The customers around us stared like they’d lost their minds.

“Isn’t that the CEO from yesterday?”

“The CEO came to slum it?”

I frowned and blocked his hand with my spatula.

“Vincent Sterling, what the hell are you doing now?”

“I’m here to work for you.”

He looked at me, deadly serious.

“I already sent Sienna Quinn to the police station. She’s being

charged with embezzlement.”

“Every cent she stole, I already transferred to your card.”

I froze, pulled out my phone, and checked.

A huge deposit really had come through.

Enough to get Mom the best prosthetic and renovate the orphanage from top to bottom.

I wasn’t any happier for it.

“I’ll take the money. You owed me that.”

I shoved my phone back in my pocket.

“Now you can get lost.”

Vincent Sterling didn’t move.

He opened the insulated pot. Inside was bone broth cooked milky white.

“You used to make soup for me every night.”

He said it low, with a hint of wheedling.

“I made some for you today. Want a taste?”

I looked at him like he was insane.

“Vincent Sterling, do you have a masochism kink?”

“Back then I was falling over myself to wait on you, and you found me annoying.”

“Now I quit, and you show up with soup?”

Vincent Sterling’s eyes dimmed.

“Chloe, I really know I was wrong.”

“I neglected you too much before. I was too full of myself.”

He drew a deep breath.

‘Come back with me.”

“From now on your allowance goes up to $1 million. No, $2 million.

“You don’t have to do a thing. Buy whatever you want.”

I couldn’t help rolling my eyes so hard it hurt.

“Vincent Sterling, you still don’t get it.”

I pointed at the line behind me.

‘I make a few thousand a day selling breakfast wraps now.”

“I’m the boss. I set up whenever I want.”

“I don’t have to walk on eggshells around anyone.”

“You think I’d still want that $2 million gilded cage of yours?”

Vincent Sterling froze.

He watched me flip wraps like it was nothing, watched the confident smile on my face.

That was a Chloe Paige he had never seen in the mansion.

“$1 million isn’t enough. $2 million isn’t enough either…”

He muttered it to himself.

Then he lifted his head and planted himself in front of my cart.

“What if I give you everything I have?”
