The Ice King’s Forbidden Bond Chapter 08
Eden’s Pov
As I sipped my coffee early that morning, with everyone else in the house still fast asleep, Adrian gazed at me with his green eyes from across the kitchen island and whispered, “Let’s spend a day like this a day when I’m not your stepbrother, and you’re
not that ‘she‘ who has to hide. Just the two of us, like a real mate.”
My heart was pounding so hard I had to set my coffee cup down. “You mean… go on a date? In public?”
He nodded, a determined yet subtle smile playing at the corners of his mouth. “Masks, hats, hoodies. We’ll
be careful. But I want to hold your hand, kiss you in the dark, and do all those ordinary things I’ve longed to do
with you all these years.”
Before I had time to think it through, I said yes.
That afternoon, we slipped out separately–I in a loose hoodie, a baseball cap, and a mask, and he dressed much the same.
No one at home noticed. It was the first time in ten
years that we’d gone on a date just as Eden and Adrian.
It was a late–afternoon showing, and the theater was nearly empty.
We chose seats in the very back corner, far from the handful of viewers scattered across the middle rows.
The lights dimmed, and the moment the trailers
started playing, Adrian reached over and intertwined our fingers. His thumb slowly traced circles on the back of my hand, and a warm, tingling sensation spread up my arm.
After the movie, we drove to a quiet neighborhood supermarket far from our usual haunts.
It was almost midnight; the store was softly lit and nearly empty.
Adrian grabbed a shopping cart, and we strolled down
the aisles like any other couple. He pushed the cart while I tossed snacks into it–gummy bears for me, energy bars for him.
Our fingers kept brushing against each other, whether on purpose or by accident. Finally, he generously took
my hand and gently swayed it by his side as we walked.
We talked about everything under the sun, and yet it felt like we hadn’t talked about anything at all.
He told me funny stories from his Alpha course and training, while I confided in him about the medical
school courses that were stressing me out–and the ones that filled me with hope for the future.
For once, there was no foul language, and we didn’t have to worry about anyone barging in. Just two people in love, getting to know each other in the ordinary light.
of day—or perhaps under the moonlight.
“Do you know what I love most?”
He whispered as we stood in line at the self–checkout, “It’s being able to see every angle of you. That smart, focused medical student; that girl who still gets excited when she sees a new textbook; and you, who blushes when I stare at you for too long. All of these belong to me.”
I snuggled up next to him. My mask hid my smile, but
it couldn’t hide the warmth in my chest. “Back when I
used to watch you play from the stands, I always felt it was so unfair–because I couldn’t cheer for you the way I wanted to. Not as your stepsister… but as the girl
who’s always loved you deeply.”
His hand clasped mine tightly. “Now you have it all,
Eden bear. All the ordinary happiness I can give you.”
The feeling was so good it took my breath away. It was as if we were building a real relationship, rather than
just one that burned in secret.
I’d never realized how much I needed all of this–to feel like his mate, rather than his shameful little secret.
Back in the Jeep, parked in a corner of the nearly empty
parking lot, we didn’t drive straight home. Adrian pulled me from the center console onto his lap. For the next forty minutes, we did nothing but kiss.
My body brushed lightly against the hard bulge in his jeans; I could feel him throbbing, but we both held back.
The tension finally reached its peak. Adrian pressed his forehead against mine, panting. “Eden bear… I need to touch you, just a little more.”
I nodded, my hand already reaching for him. We
shifted our bodies slightly so we could face each other better.
We kissed deeply, our hands constantly roaming- those slow, intimate, loving caresses that let the pleasure build steadily.
I responded to his kiss with a soft moan, and our gentle sighs echoed through the car.
We weren’t chasing an intense climax. We were simply giving each other sweet, tantalizing pleasure- pushing each other higher and higher until we were both trembling on the edge.
Afterward, we stayed in that position for several
minutes, our foreheads pressed together, breathing each other in deeply.
When we finally got home, as usual, we had to part ways at the door.
One last tender kiss in the garage his thumb gently brushing my cheek–then he went to his room, and I
went to mine.
I lay in bed, savoring every moment of the day–the flirting at the movie theater, holding hands in the store, and that sweet release we’d given each other in the car.
Today felt just right. So safe, so ordinary. But I knew the flame between us was still there, burning hotter than ever.
We cherished these moments so deeply because we both understood just how fragile this secret was.
Even so, as I drifted off to sleep that night, I buried my face in my pillow and smiled.
For the first time, I allowed myself to believe that maybe we really could find a way to have both passion and ordinary life.
The next day at school, my phone vibrated.
Adrian texted to say he’d come pick me up.
My heart skipped a joyful beat, and I told my lab
partner, Damon, to hurry up and finish writing up our report so we could wrap things up.
Damon moved closer to me, his shoulder brushing against mine as we leaned over the binocular microscope together.
“See that clustered structure over there? It’s a classic manifestation. You’re really good at this, Eden.”
“Thanks,” I whispered, adjusting the focus.
We were acting very professional, but this angle made us look closer than we actually were.
The lab door suddenly burst open, with far more force than necessary.
I looked up, my stomach churning–but for an entirely different reason.
Adrian stood in the doorway, tall and imposing, radiating an intense sense of possessiveness.
