I Was The New Boss, She Told Me To Take The Freight Elevator Chapter 08
The comments were flying by at lightning speed.
[New boss, new rules–fires her own husband’s secretary on day one. Talk about a power trip!]
[Don’t worry, girl. You’ve worked here for ten years. Even if she’s the president, she’s still just an employee. She has no right to fire you like this!]
[You should report this to your company’s board of directors immediately!]
[A whole corporation and nobody’s going to stop this tyrant?]
I was furious.
Originally, I only wanted to handle this quietly. Fire her and be done with it.
But I never expected Lia wouldn’t just refuse to admit she was wrong. She had even broadcast my face online.
She looked at me smugly. Then she turned off the livestream recording and spoke viciously, “See that?”
“If you don’t want the board to remove you on your
first day as president, restore my position and Mr. Hewitt’s immediately!”
“After all, you don’t have any evidence proving that there’s something between Mr. Hewitt and me! If this
goes to court, that’s called slander. Do you understand?”
“Restore our positions?” I looked up at her.
Seeing my reaction, she let out a cold laugh. She
seemed even more certain that she had the upper hand. “That’s right!”
“Not only do you have to restore our positions, but you also have to increase my salary by 20%. Consider that your apology.”
“Then I can tell the livestream viewers that we’ve
already reached an agreement and everything was just a misunderstanding.”
“Besides, the salary isn’t coming out of your own
pocket. You’ve got nothing to lose.”
Briar froze for a moment. Then he spoke as well,
“Janessa, she has a point.”
“You don’t want the board to see this livestream and start questioning you, do you?”
“From now on, I’ll be the general manager and you’ll be the president. Isn’t that great?”
“We’ll be working in the same company every day. You
won’t have to worry about anything between Lia and me anymore, right?”
I took a deep breath and smiled.
“First, when the board transferred me back and appointed me as president, they already transferred
5% of the company’s shares to my name.”
“Technically speaking, I’m responsible for employee salaries.”
“Second, who said I don’t have evidence proving you betrayed me?”
Lia froze. Then she screamed. “You… you just arrived. What evidence could you possibly have?”
“That’s all just rumors! What those employees said is fake! And you actually believe them?”
I didn’t waste any more words on her. I took a USB
drive from my pocket and plugged it into the computer.
Then, facing the direction of her livestream camera, I clicked play.
The footage was dimly lit–the break room. Briar had Lia up on the counter.
Her breathing was clearly unsteady as she spoke.
“Baby, everyone’s gone home. Time to pay some attention to me.”
“The break room should be more exciting, don’t you think?”
What followed left nothing to the imagination.
Lia finally realized what was happening. She rushed
over and tried to turn the livestream camera away.
“You! How did you…”
But it was too late.
Everyone online had seen everything.
The comments flipped in an instant.
[Wait? Isn’t that man her boss? Didn’t she say there was nothing between her and her boss?]
[So she really seduced her boss? The female president firing her was completely justified!]
[She just said that her boss was the president’s
husband! She destroyed someone else’s marriage and still had the nerve to play the victim?]
[Deleting my earlier comment. I feel so stupid…]
t USB drive had been secretly given to me by Kori.
When I was in the HR office, I only watched the beginning and immediately understood what it was.
Originally, I planned to keep it as evidence for the divorce proceedings.
But after Lia forced me into this situation today, I had no choice but to reveal it early.
