The Clean-Freak Alpha’s DirtySecret Love Chapter 10
I was surprised when Waldo appeared in front of me again.
That day, when I was coming home from à date with Lawrence, a
figure suddenly lunged out from behind a tree.
Waldo stood there, a wreck. His eyes were bloodshot, he hadn’t
shaved, and he’d lost weight.
When he saw me, his dim eyes lit up.
He reached for my hand–then pulled back.
“I’m sorry, Janet. After you left, I realized what a bastard I am.”
“I just want a chance. Let me pursue you again. Let me take care of you.”
Lawrence noticed my discomfort.
He pulled a few bills from his pocket and dropped them on the ground.
“Good acting. Here’s a tip.”
Waldo only then realized I wasn’t alone. His eyes went wide.
“Who is he?”
I didn’t answer. I just took Lawrence’s hand naturally.
“You two…” Waldo’s lips trembled, as if all his life had drained out of him.
I turned to leave without another word.
Waldo tried to grab me, but Lawrence blocked his path.
“Touch my mate, and you’ll regret it.”
Waldo roared, “Who do you think you are? I’m her mate!”
He lunged and threw a punch at Lawrence, but Lawrence flipped him over with one move.
“Crazy…” I shook my head and pulled Lawrence away.
That night, it poured. Waldo didn’t leave.
For two weeks straight, he followed me like a shadow.
One afternoon, I saw him sitting on a garden wall, on the phone.
His voice grew more and more agitated.
After he hung up, he smashed his phone on the ground and sat there for a long time, head in his hands.
I later learned-
Unable to repay her debts, Flora had been borrowing money in Waldo’s name.
When the collectors called Waldo, he learned he’d acquired several million dollars of debt overnight.
He rushed back to Duskclaw Pack. He and Flora got into a physical fight.
Flora was sent to the pack cellars.
Waldo, who had neglected his pack duties, was stripped of his Alph title.
He started drinking every night, crying her name when he was drunk.
His health was destroyed. His spirit was broken. He had no future left.
But my life only got better.
My mother recovered.
My mate ceremony with Lawrence was set for the following spring.
When I walked toward him in a dress glittering with diamonds, his eyes turned red.
Before our honeymoon, I found an old photograph in my suitcase.
It was a picture of him as a young wolf. He looked so small then, nervous, staring at the camera.
Lawrence wrapped his arms around me from behind and rested his chin on my shoulder.
“What are you looking at?”
“The past.” I turned the photo to show him. “And the future.”
He pressed a kiss to my hair. “Your future has me in it.”
“Every single day from now on, I’ll be by your side. I’ll care for you, cherish you, and make sure you’re always happy.”
Love is like moonlight. Even when the clouds hide it for a while, its
gentle light will always find its way through.
